Winamp 5 - Keep Visualizations From Hogging CPU

Are Winamp 5 visualizations hogging the CPU, keeping you from multitasking effectively? Instead of turning visualizations completely off, you can instead lower the process priority, meaning that visualizations may display yet they may be slower or slightly jerky whenever other CPU-intensive programs are running.

1. Right-click on the Winamp 5 title bar, choosing "Options" - "Preferences".

2. When the "Preferences" dialog appears, click "Plug-ins".

3. In the right pane, move the thumb next to "Visualization plug-in priority" towards the left to make the visualizations run slower when other applications are running. Moving the tab to the right would make the visualizations run smoother, yet take up even more CPU time.

4. Click "Close" to close the dialog box.

Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Winamp 5 - Keep Visualizations From Hogging CPU
