Winamp 5 - Visual Tweaks

Enable Desktop Alpha Blending for Shadows and Smoothed Edges

SUMMARY: Smooth your Modern skins in Winamp 5 and add special visual effects.

Some Winamp 5 skins support a mode called Desktop Alpha Blending, allowing for enhanced visual effects on Windows 2000 and Windows XP systems, which may include:

1. Enhanced shadow effects
2. Smoother window edges

These effects depend on which modern Winamp 5 skin you are using. If your modern Winamp 5 skin shows jagged or pixilated edges, consider enabling this feature to see if it helps.

Note that Desktop Alpha Blending uses a lot of CPU power. If you are a heavy multitasker or run a machine with a slower CPU or graphics card, you should not enable this feature. If you have a powerful machine and want the best possible visual display for your Winamp 5 modern skins:

1. Right-click on the Winamp 5 title bar, choosing "Options" - "Preferences".
2. When the "Preferences" dialog appears, click "Modern Skins" underneath "Skins".
3. Click the "Alpha Blending" tab.
4. Check "Enable Desktop Alpha Blending (when requested by skin)".
5. Press "Close" to close the dialog box.
