Windows 95 and the Mouse - Why Aren't Animated Pointers Working?

SUMMARY: Two reasons why animated pointers may not move on Windows 95 machines.

Are your animated pointers not working? Have you selected an animated hourglass as your "waiting" pointer but the sand doesn't move? Here are two things to check.

1. Are your display drivers up-to-date? Make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. Check your graphics card manufacturer's website for updates.

2. Is 32-bit file access running on your machine? Right-click "My Computer" on the desktop, choosing "Properties". Then, select the "Performance" tab on the following window and look under "File-System". If you can't select 32-bit file access, then perhaps you are using a driver to access the full size of your hard drive. Check your hard drive manual for details on such a driver, if possible, and visit the driver developer's website for a possible update.
