Windows Live Photo Gallery - Resize a Photo

SUMMARY: Quickly resize an image for publishing or sharing with the Windows Live Photo Gallery.

Took a photo with a state-of-the-art digital camera that's just too large to share or publish? Windows Live Photo Gallery can solve this problem with its built-in photo resizer. The resizer makes a copy of the current photo so you won't lose the original when you need its added detail.

1. When in the gallery view, right-click a photo or group of selected photos and choose "Resize".

2. The "Resize" dialog box appears as shown below:

3. Underneath "Select a size", choose from one of the following maximum dimensions in pixels:

* Smaller: 640
* Small: 800
* Medium: 1024
* Large: 1280

Or, select "Custom" and enter the desired maximum dimensions in pixels underneath "Maximum dimensions".

4. Resized photos will be saved to the same directory by default. If desired, click "Browse" to save photos to a different directory.

5. Click the "Resize and Save" button to perform the resize of the selected photo(s).

Resized photos will be labeled with the chosen dimensions, for example a resized copy of Sunset.jpg may be saved as Sunset (800x600).jpg.
