SUMMARY: Toggle a status bar at the bottom of Explorer folder views in Windows Vista.
Depending on your configuration, Windows Vista may display a status bar at the bottom of Explorer folders. This provides helpful information such as:
* Information about menu bar commands as your mouse hovers over them
* Number of files selected (useful if the Navigation Pane is turned off to save space in folder views)
* Total size of selected files (useful if the Navigation Pane is turned off to save space in folder views)
If you have the menu bar turned on or the Navigation Pane turned off, the status bar may be useful. Otherwise, you may wish to turn it off to save space.
To toggle its display:
1. Press the Alt key to bring up and select the menu bar.
2. Check or uncheck "View" - "Status Bar".
