Windows XP and the Display - Desktop

Toggle Between Large and Small Desktop Icons

SUMMARY: Change your Windows XP Desktop icon size.

Depending on your preferences, you may prefer the icons on your Windows XP Desktop to appear larger. This may make them easier to view and click, at the expense of covering up more of your wallpaper.

1 Right-click an empty area of your Desktop and choose "Properties".

2. When the "Display Properties" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Appearance" tab.

3. Click the "Effects" button.

4. When the "Effects" dialog box appears, check or uncheck "Use large icons" as desired.

5. Click "OK" to close the dialog boxes, and your Desktop icons will resize as desired.

Selecting "Use Large Icons" in Windows XP's "Effects" dialog box.

Return to the Windows XP and the Display - Desktop page.
