Windows Vista - Fonts - Font Sizes are not Always Restricted by Dialog Boxes

SUMMARY: TrueType/OpenType fonts can be resized to virtually any size in most Windows Vista applications.

Many Windows Vista applications allow you to select font sizes via a font settings option that opens a dialog box.

Other applications may instead display a pull-down where you can select the font size. In either case, pre-selected font sizes are usually listed such as:

* 8
* 9
* 10
* 12
* 14
* 16
...
* 36
* 48
* 72

In some instances you may want a font size in-between two listed numbers, such as 11 points. Or, an extremely large font size, such as 144, may be used to grab attention.

However, most OpenType/TrueType fonts, such as Arial and Times New Roman, can be resized to virtually any size.

Try clicking on the listed font size in the pull-down or dialog box. Then, instead of choosing a pre-selected size, see if you can manually type in your desired size. Depending on the application and font, this may work for you.
