| Can I Later Switch From One Edition of Windows Vista to Another? SUMMARY: If you purchase one edition of Windows Vista, can you upgrade it to a more enhanced edition?
As noted in a previous tip on MalekTips, several Windows Vista editions exist. You may start out with one edition and decide later to switch to one containing more features.
* When first upgrading to Windows Vista, perhaps you just want to try out the operating system and don't want to pay for all of the features in the Ultimate edition.
* You might wait until you can upgrade your hardware to take advantage of the Ultimate features.
* Budget restrictions may prevent you from buying the Ultimate edition.
For these or other reasons you may later want to switch from a less-enhanced edition to one with more features. To encourage this, Microsoft has created a Windows Anytime Upgrade feature. With this feature you can purchase a key online and re-use your purchased Windows Vista disc to upgrade to a more-enhanced edition. Note that before you upgrade, you may wish to use the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor to determine if your computer can take advantage of the enhanced features.
To upgrade to a new edition of Windows Vista:
1. Click the "Start" button. 2. Select "Control Panel". 3. Select "System and Maintenance". 4. Select "Windows Anytime Upgrade".
