Windows Vista - Windows Sidebar - Keep Windows Sidebar on Top of Other Windows

SUMMARY: Are Windows Vista applications constantly covering the Windows Sidebar? Learn how to force the Sidebar to remain on top of other windows.

As noted in a previous tip, Windows Vista's Windows Sidebar may temporarily get covered by other windows. If you don't want this to happen you can force Windows Sidebar to always display on top of other windows.

1. Right-click the Windows Sidebar icon on the taskbar (it looks like the image to the left). If you do not see this icon, click the "Show Hidden Icons" arrow (it looks like the image to the right), then right-click the Windows Sidebar icon.

2. Select "Properties".

3. The "Windows Sidebar Properties" dialog box will appear. Check "Sidebar is always on top of other windows".

4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

Note if you want to prevent Windows Sidebar from appearing on top of other windows, just repeat the above steps, but uncheck the box.
