Windows Vista - Windows Sidebar - Move the Sidebar to a Different Edge of the Screen

SUMMARY: Configure Windows Vista's Sidebar to appear on the left or right-hand side of the Desktop.

Depending on your Windows Vista configuration, the Windows Sidebar may appear on the right or left side of your desktop. If desired, you may move the Sidebar to an alternate side.

1. Right-click the Windows Sidebar icon on the taskbar (it looks like the image to the left). If you do not see this icon, click the "Show Hidden Icons" arrow (it looks like the image to the right), then right-click the Windows Sidebar icon.

2. Select "Properties".

3. The "Windows Sidebar Properties" dialog box will appear. Underneath "Display Sidebar on this side of screen" select either the "Right" or "Left" radio button.

4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box when you're done.

Note that if you move the Windows Sidebar to the left side of your Desktop, you may wish to consider keeping the Windows Sidebar on top of other windows. Else, the Sidebar gadgets may cover your Desktop icons, or vice-versa.
