Windows XP and Fonts - Use TrueType Fonts Only

SUMMARY: Disable the use of all non-TrueType fonts on your Windows XP system.

While Windows XP provides support for many different types of font files such as vector and raster fonts, most recommend using primarily TrueType fonts as they appear the same onscreen as they do in printouts.

If you do not use many screen and printer-specific fonts, you may want to allow your applications to only use TrueType fonts.

1) Access your Windows XP Fonts Control Panel.

2) Select "Tools" - "Folder Options".

3) When the "Folder Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "TrueType Fonts" tab.

4) Check "Show only TrueType fonts in the programs on my computer".

5) Click "OK" to save your settings.
