Windows XP Service Pack 2

Plan for an Hour at Least

SUMMARY: You'll need plenty of time to download and install Windows XP Service Pack 2.

If you are planning on downloading Service Pack 2, you should plan for at least an hour, maybe two, to download and install the software, even if you have high-speed Internet (downloading Service Pack 2 over the modem can take much longer!). Though you won't have to sit down in front of the machine during the entire download, you will have to occasionally click a couple of buttons to install Service Pack 2 as soon as it has downloaded, plus to reboot the machine after the install.
