Although Windows XP's Notepad utility is great for jotting quick notes in a file, would you like the ability to make certain text stand out with color or a different font? If so, Windows XP comes built-in with a "light" word processing tool called WordPad that lets you add a small amount of formatting to your typed information. It's not Microsoft Word, but it is free with Windows.
