Windows XP and WordPad - Running the WordPad Mini Word-Processor

Although Windows XP's Notepad utility is great for jotting quick notes in a file, would you like the ability to make certain text stand out with color or a different font? If so, Windows XP comes built-in with a "light" word processing tool called WordPad that lets you add a small amount of formatting to your typed information. It's not Microsoft Word, but it is free with Windows.

To access WordPad:

1. Click the "Start" menu
2. Choose "All Programs" - "Accessories" - "WordPad".

You can type in text just as with the Notepad tool. Click "File" - "Save" to save your document or "File" - "Open" to open previously-saved documents. Experiment with the toolbar buttons to add color, formatting, and different fonts to your text.
