Disable AutoRun Per File Type
SUMMARY: Stop Windows Media Player 9 from being the default player for a given media type.
Tired of Windows Media Player 9 always running when you open a WAV file? Do you have other software that plays MP3s? You can enable or disable Windows Media player wanting to be the default player for various file types.
1. Open up Windows Media Player.
2. Choose "Tools" - "Options".
3. On the multi-tabbed dialog box that follows, select "File Types".
4. Check or uncheck file types as desired. Checked file types will cause Windows Media Player to be the default player for said file types.
5. Press "OK".
