Windows Media Player 9
Want Some Privacy?
SUMMARY: Keep Windows Media Player 9 from tracking your player ID and usage statistics.
If you're concerned about privacy with Windows Media Player 9, you should open it now and follow these instructions. Access the "Tools" menu and choose "Options". When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, choose the "Privacy" tab. Read this screen, then check or uncheck options as you desire, such as "Send Unique Player ID To Content Providers" (I recommend unchecking this), and "Update my music files € by retrieving missing media information from the Internet".
Return to the Windows Media Player 9 page.
