Don't Open the Media Guide
SUMMARY: Keep the Media Guide from automatically opening when starting Windows Media Player.
Tired of seeing the Media Guide mini-webpage whenever you open Windows Media Player 9 from the "Start" menu? If you'd rather skip this step of accessing online files and go straight to playing and organizing your media, do the following:
1. Open Windows Media Player 9.
2. Select "Tools" then "Options".
3. From the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box choose the "Player" tab.
4. Uncheck "Start Player in Media Guide".
5. Press "OK" to close the dialog box.
Return to the Windows Media Player 9 page.
