Microsoft Word 2003 Compatibility and Other Word Processors

Tips for WordPerfect Users

Summary: Make Word 2003 act a little more like WordPerfect while you transition from one word processor to another.

Has your office upgraded from older machines running WordPerfect to newer computers running Word 2003? If so, here are a couple of changes that might make the transition somewhat easier.

1. Click on the "Tools" menu and choose "Options".

2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click "General".

3. Check "Blue background, white text" to make the window colors more familiar.

4. Check "Help for WordPerfect users". Now, whenever you enter a function key combination, Word 2003 will illustrate how to perform the equivalent function.

5. Check "Navigation keys for WordPerfect users". This changes how certain keys operate in Word 2003 to be more like WordPerfect.

5. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
