There may be times where you do not want Microsoft Word 2003 automatically proofreading text, such as:
1. The text may be medical or legal in nature, resulting in many words not appearing in the standard dictionaries.
2. You are manually reading or proofreading a large document and automatic proofreading slows the computer down.
3. You're working on an unplugged laptop computer and automatic proofreading, especially for complex and large documents, may tax the CPU, using up more battery power.
To disable proofreading for a particular portion (or all) of a Microsoft Word Document:
1. Highlight the portion of the document (or all of it) that you don't want proofread.
2. Click "Tools" - "Language" - "Set Language".
3. When the "Language" dialog box appears, check "Do not check spelling or grammar".
4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then,
return to Microsoft Word 2003 Spelling and Grammar - Do Not Proofread Certain Text.
