Microsoft Word 2003 Security and Privacy - Recommend a Document Not Be Modified

When saving a Microsoft Word 2003 document, you can recommend that others opening the document not modify it. This read-only recommendation may be useful if you wish to keep one "master copy" of a document and not have others modify your text. While this discourages document editing, others can still open the document and save edited copies themselves, but they must use a different filename.

1. Click "Tools" - "Options".

2. When the "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Security" tab.

3. Check "Read-only recommended".

4. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Microsoft Word 2003 Security and Privacy - Recommend a Document Not Be Modified.
