Open up a ZIP file with WinZip, then click the "File" menu and choose "Properties". You'll see some basic information about the ZIP file, including how well the file was compressed.

If you REALLY want to learn more information about the file, click the "Details" button. Data includes the operating system used to zip each file in the archive, the compression method used to compress each file, the security status of each file, and much, MUCH more.
