SUMMARY: Test zip archives for errors, and label which compressed files are corrupt.
Having problems unzipping a file? If a couple of files inside a ZIP file show errors when loaded and extracted from WinZip or other unzip software, you may wish to see if the entire file is corrupt or if a chance exists some files can be saved.
To perform this test:
1. From WinZip's Classic interface, select "Actions" - "Test" or press SHIFT + T.
2. A "Zip Test" dialog box appears. WinZip by default will perform a quick integrity test. Check the "Include full details in the test output" checkbox to perform a more detailed test if desired.
3. Click "OK" to perform the test.
Choosing to perform a more detailed test of an archive in WinZip
WinZip will display a status report of the ZIP file in general and details about each compressed file. You can click the "Clipboard Copy" button to place test information in the clipboard for pasting into an email message, Microsoft Word document, Notepad document, or other file. Click the "Font" button to display test information with a different font, possibly with a smaller point size so you can view more information without horizontal scrolling.

Note that sometimes a corrupt ZIP will still have a couple of recoverable files inside. Many utilities are available to help repair corrupted ZIP files.
