WinZip

WinZip 10.x - Not Everything ZIPs Well

SUMMARY: ZIP files don't work great for all types of digital media.

Don't get on a ZIP file frenzy and zip everything you own with WinZip, thinking you'll save lots of room! While text files, word processing files, some graphics, and some applications compress well, some files may not compress well, if at all. In fact, some files may "compress" to a size bigger than their original size! However, if you plan on distributing lots of files to someone, you should still consider zipping these uncompressible files together just for the convenience factor.

These types of files, in general, will not compress very well as they are already compressed to begin with:

* GIF images
* JPG images
* MP3 music files
* MPG movies
