SUMMARY: Change which file types automatically use WinZip.
Normally, when you double-click a ZIP file, WinZip opens to process the file (unless you are using Windows XP which you may have setup to use its own built-in ZIP file processor). The same is for .ARC files, .ARJ files, and others. However, if you do not wish WinZip to open certain file types, do the following:
1. Open WinZip, choosing "Options" then "Configuration".
2. When the multi-tabbed dialog box "Configuration" appears, click the "System" tab.
3. To remove all associations, uncheck "Associate WinZip with Archives". Or, choose file types individually. Click the "Associations" button and uncheck file types that you don't want WinZip to be associated with.
4. Press "OK" to close the dialog boxes.
Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to WinZip - WinZip 10.x - Change File Associations
