WinZip - WinZip 10.x - Create a Program Group for a Zip File's Contents

SUMMARY: Checkout a zip file in WinZip, making its contents available from the Start Menu.

If you have a ZIP files or other archive containing multiple programs, text files, or multimedia files that you wish to access / view, and you want these file easily accessible, you can use WinZip to create a program group on your "Start" menu.

1. Open up a ZIP file or other archive in WinZip.

2. Select "Actions" - "Checkout" or press SHIFT+C.

3. A "Checkout" dialog box will appear. Your files will be uncompressed and placed in the folder referenced in the "Folder" textbox. Click on the folder icon to uncompress the files elsewhere on your system.

4 Underneath "Group Name" type in the "Start" menu group that you want used to reference the zip file's contents.

5. Underneath "Maximum icons", choose the maximum number of icons you want created.

6. Uncheck "Create icons for programs and documents only" if you want shortcut icons created for multimedia or other non-program and document files in the uncompressed ZIP archive.

7. Check or uncheck "Run virus scanner" as desired (note that if you have not previously defined a virus scanner for WinZip this option will be disabled).

8. Click "OK" to "Checkout" the ZIP file.
