Windows XP - Outlook Express

Make Outlook Express the Default E-Mail and News Program

SUMMARY: Configure Outlook Express to be the default program used for managing e-mail and newsgroups.

If you are experimenting with multiple e-mail programs, you may have accidentally made one of them the default software used for handling e-mail and newsgroups. If so, you may wish to re-configure Outlook Express in Windows XP to be the default software for handling such actions.

1. Click the "Tools" menu, selecting "Options".

2. The "Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears. Make sure the "General" tab is selected.

3. Underneath "Default Messaging Program", check the "Make Default" boxes. Note that if they are grayed out, then Outlook Express should already be the default software for said messaging option.

I am having sudden problems scanning to Outlook Express and have been recommended to make Outlook Express MY Default Simple MAP1 Client. But there is no relevant box to check. Outlook Express is already my default mail handler and the boxes are greyed out.
