Windows XP Taskbar - Toolbar - Start Menu

Create a Quick Launch One-Click Run Shortcut

SUMMARY: Provide one-click access to running software from the Windows XP Quick Launch Toolbar.

If you frequently run applications by clicking the "Start" button and selecting "Run", you might want to save time by placing a one-click shortcut to the "Run" command in the Quick Launch area of Windows XP's Taskbar:

1. Click the "Start" menu.

2. Click on the "Run" link, keeping the left mouse button held down.

3. Drag and release the link inside the Quick Launch Area.

4. Unfortunately, when your mouse hovers over this icon, it is labeled "&Run". To fix this, right-click the icon and choose "Rename" from the popup menu that appears.

5. When the "Rename" dialog box appears, remove the ampersand, and then click "OK".

Return to the Windows XP Taskbar - Toolbar - Start Menu page.
