| Access Statistic Functions SUMMARY: Perform deviations, averages, and more with Windows XP's calculator. The Windows XP Calculator comes built-in with six statistic functions: average, average of squares, summation, summation of squares, standard deviation with n-1, and standard deviation with n. To access these functions:
1. Run the Windows XP Calculator and choose the "Scientific" mode. 2. Press CONTROL-S to open up the statistics box.
To enter your numbers, click on the calculator tool and type a number. To insert these numbers to the list of numbers on which you will be performing statistics, press the INSERT key. Your number(s) will then appear in the Statistics box.
To delete a number from the statistics box, click the number and press "CD". To delete all numbers, click "CAD".
To perform statistical functions:
1. Summation - Press the SUM button. 2. Summation of squares - Check the INV checkbox, then press SUM. 3. Average - press the AVE button. 4. Average of squares - Check the INV checkbox, then press AVE. 5. Standard deviation with n-1 - Press the S button. 6. Standard deviation with n - Check the INV checkbox, then press AVE.
If you are interested in more advanced statistical functions, you may wish to use a spreadsheet, such as Microsoft Excel.
