Display All System Shares and Privileges

SUMMARY: From the Windows XP command-line you can determine all available shares on a remote or local system.

The 'srvcheck' command, found in the Windows 2003 Resource Kit (Windows 2003 Resource Kit download/install instructions), displays information about all of the unhidden shares on a remote system. Shared resources are displayed followed by the lists of people who can access the shares and their permissions, such as No Access, Read, Change, and Full Control.

To display the non-hidden shares on a remote system, enter the following at the Windows XP command prompt, substituting the remote computer's name for COMPUTER_NAME:

srvcheck \\COMPUTER_NAME

You can run srvcheck on your own computer to view all your non-hidden shares and access privileges. Just substitute your computer name for COMPUTER_NAME in the above command.
