Windows XP Taskbar - Toolbar - Start Menu - Stop Highlighting New Programs

Normally, Windows XP will highlight newly installed programs on the Start Menu, assuming that if you recently installed software, you are most likely to soon access it. If you wish to turn this feature off and not highlight new software packages in yellow:

1. Right-click an empty area of the Taskbar and choose "Properties".

2. When the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog box appears, select the "Start Menu" tab.

3. Click the "Customize" button.

4. When the "Customize Start Menu" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Advanced" tab.

5. Uncheck "Highlight newly installed programs".

6. Click "OK" on the dialog boxes to close them.

Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Windows XP Taskbar - Toolbar - Start Menu - Stop Highlighting New Programs
