SUMMARY: Clear your computer manufacturer's icon from the Windows XP Start Menu.
Depending on your computer manufacturer, your Windows XP Start Menu may have a link to the manufacturer's website, such as a support center, solutions center, or information center from Dell, Gateway, HP, Compaq, etc. If you'd like to clean up your Start Menu and remove this link:
1. Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar, choosing "Properties".
2. When the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, select the "Start Menu" tab.
3. Click the "Customize" button.
4. The "Customize Start Menu" multi-tabbed dialog box should appear. Select the "Advanced" tab.
5. Underneath "Start menu items", uncheck "Manufacturer Link".
6. Click "OK" on the dialog boxes to close them.
Press the "print" button on your browser or select "File" - "Print" to print this tip. Then, return to Windows XP Taskbar - Toolbar - Start Menu - Remove Manufacturer Link from the Start Menu
