Windows XP Taskbar - Toolbar - Start Menu - Toggle the Taskbar on Top of Other Windows

SUMMARY: Is your Windows XP Taskbar getting overshadowed by other windows? Or, conversely, do you want to add more available screen real-estate to your software?

You can configure the Windows XP Taskbar so it remains on top of other windows, always visible and easily accessible. Or, if desired, you can give very large windows priority so they can theoretically hide the taskbar. While this makes the taskbar less convenient, it does add a slight amount of screen real-estate when browsing the web, editing word processing documents, etc.

To perform either tweak:

1. Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar, choosing "Properties".

2. When the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, make sure that the "Taskbar" tab is selected.

3. Check or uncheck "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" as desired.

4. Click "OK" to close the dialog boxes.
