Windows XP Taskbar - Toolbar - Start Menu

Show or Hide My Music on the Start Menu

SUMMARY: Toggle showing the 'My Music' icon on the Windows XP Start Menu. If you do show the icon, toggle whether or not 'My Music' appears as a Start Menu submenu.

The Windows XP "Start Menu" can contain a submenu labeled "My Music", a shortcut to your "My Music" folder.

This "My Music" shortcut can be a very convenient shortcut as some software packages such as Rhapsody or iTunes may use this folder, making it easier for you to access your music. If you often do not need access to this folder, however, this shortcut may be a waste of space.

You can configure the Start Menu to show or hide the "My Music" shortcut as desired.

1. Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar, choosing "Properties".

2. When the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, click the "Start Menu" tab.

3. Click "Customize" next to "Start Menu".

4. When the "Customize Start Menu" dialog box appears, click the "Advanced" tab.

5. Underneath "Start menu items", scroll down to "My Music".

6. Choose one of the options as desired:

* Display as a link
* Display as a menu
* Don't display this item

7. Click "OK" on the dialog boxes to close them.
