Windows XP Taskbar - Toolbar - Start Menu - Move an Off-Screen Window or Application

SUMMARY: Use these quick tips to try displaying a hidden or off-screen Windows XP application or window.

Have you ever opened an application or window, seen it appear in the Windows XP Taskbar, yet you could not actually see the application or window on the Desktop?

Due to a mis-configuration, switching of screen resolutions, or switching back and forth between using multiple monitors, it is possible for a window / application to appear at a location not currently visible on your Desktop. Here are a couple of ways to try moving it back:

* The application / window may be visible yet hidden. Click on its icon in the taskbar to see if it appears.

* See if you can move the window to a visible area. Right-click on the window / application icon in the Start Menu. Select "Move" if that option is available. If not, try selecting "Restore" if it is available.

Then, press and hold down the left cursor key for a few seconds. Try the up cursor key. This should move the window back to a visible position on your Windows XP Desktop.

* Try maximizing the window. Right-click on the window / application icon in the Start Menu and select "Maximize" if available.
