Windows XP Upgrading

Backup Your Files First

SUMMARY: Upgrades sometimes can fail, leaving you temporarily with a nonworking computer and no access to files. Before upgrading to Windows XP, backup your important files first.

If you are planning on upgrading a Windows 98, NT 4.0, 2000, or ME machine to Windows XP, I strongly recommend you back up all important files first. Although the Windows XP upgrade will try to keep your original files and settings intact, you have to consider the possibilities that the upgrade could fail, or that the upgrade may remove important files stored on your system. Better safe than sorry.
