Windows XP Upgrading
Check your Computer Manufacturer Website
SUMMARY: Why you should visit your computer manufacturer's website before upgrading to Windows XP.
When upgrading to Windows XP from an earlier operating system, you should first visit your computer manufacturer's website for possible hints and information on procedures to perform before the upgrade. You may find BIOS updates, device updates, or warnings about incompatibilities with certain hardware.
Note that depending on your manufacturer, age of your computer, etc., you may not find much help (see one of the other tips about certain Compaq computer models) - but it's worth a shot to check first.
