Windows XP and the Mouse - Scroll Faster with the Wheel

SUMMARY: A Control Panel Tweak to speed up your Windows XP mouse wheel.

Do you have a wheel mouse (is there a wheel between your left and right mouse buttons)? If so, you probably know that using the wheel scrolls up and down through documents in most software packages. What you might not know is that you can make the wheel scroll through documents a *lot* faster!

1. First, open Windows XP's Mouse Control Panel.

2. On the "Mouse Properties" multi-tabbed dialog box that follows, select the "Wheel" tab.

3. The radio button "The following number of lines at a time" should be selected. Either increase the number "3" below this radio button to scroll through more lines at once, or select the "One screen at a time" radio button to scroll through entire screenfuls of information at once.

4. When done, press "OK" to close the dialog box.
