Setting a Default Printer
SUMMARY: If you have access to multiple printers, such as on a network, force Windows XP to make one printer the default.
When you print a document within Windows XP from Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word, Notepad, etc., Windows XP normally picks a printer by default from which to use. If you have access to several printers, especially if you are on a network, then you may want to change this default printer setting and use a printer of your choice.
Click the "Start" menu and choose "Printers and Faxes". When the "Printers and Faxes" window appears, right-click on your desired printer and choose "Set as Default Printer".
Return to the Windows XP and Printers page.
