Yahoo Search - Area Code Search

SUMMARY: Where does a particular phone number point to? Find out with Yahoo! Search.

Did someone at a networking event give you a phone number to a business and you want to know where it's located? Did a phone number appear on your Caller ID system and you want to know where it's from?

If so, Yahoo! Search lets you do simple area code searches. Just type in an area code into Yahoo! Search and press "Search". The first non-sponsored result shows the city(cities) represented by the area code.

For example, search for "404". You'll get Atlanta. Search for "212" and New York will appear. Search for 773 and get Chicago.

Now for a bonus tip: need to know the various area codes for a city? Type in a query in the format: "CITY area code" and Yahoo! will provide the results.

For example, a query for "San Antonio area code" results with 210 and 830. "Seattle area code" will show you 206 and 425. Need the area codes for Boston? Type in "Boston area code" and you'll get 617 and 781.

If Yahoo! Search doesn't recognize your city name, add the state into your query as well. For Jamestown, Idaho and not Jamestown, California, query "Jamestown ID area code" to return 208. For Brooklyn, Alabama and not Brooklyn, New York, query "Brooklyn AL area code" to get 334.
