SUMMARY: Force Yahoo! Search to only look for Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PDF files, or other document types.
If you need to search for non-HTML documents, such as Microsoft Word (.DOC) or Adobe PDF documents, you can do so with Yahoo! Search, but it normally will intermix these types of documents with standard web pages. If you know your desired result should be a certain document type, however, you can force Yahoo! Search to only look through non-HTML documents.
(Note this tip was written on July 19, 2005 - Yahoo! Search's interface is subject to change.)
1. Click "Advanced Search" next to the search box.
2. When the "Advanced Web Search" page appears, enter your search query next to "Show results with".
3. Next to "File Format", click the pull-down to choose your desired file format. Options include:
* Adobe (PDF) documents
* Microsoft Excel (XLS) spreadsheets
* Microsoft Word (DOC) files
* RSS (XML) documents
4. When done, click the "Yahoo! Search" button.
