SUMMARY: Backup your ZoneAlarm Pro security settings in case you need to reformat your computer.

This tip was written for ZoneAlarm Pro version 6.5.722.000. Instructions may differ for your version.

Planning on reformatting your computer or do you need to transfer your ZoneAlarm Pro license from your old machine to a new one? Or, do you want to save ZoneAlarm Pro's security settings in case of a computer failure so you don't have to restore everything from memory? You can backup ZoneAlarm Pro's settings to an XML file by doing the following:

1. Double-click the "ZA" icon on your taskbar.

2. Click "Overview" in the left pane of the "ZoneAlarm Pro" window that appears.

3. Click the "Preferences" tab.

4. To backup your security settings, click the "Backup" button and choose a filename. To restore settings, click the appropriately named "Restore" button and locate your XML settings file.

5. When done, click the "X" at the top-right to close the ZoneAlarm Pro window.
