ZoneAlarm Pro

Disable Automatic Spyware Scanning - Scan Manually

SUMMARY: Turn off automatic spyware scanning in ZoneAlarm Pro if you use other scanners or would just rather scan manually.

Depending on your system configuration, ZoneAlarm Pro may scan for spyware every day or on a weekly basis at a given time.

While many users find the automatic scanning useful, others configure their computer to run as few automatically-running applications as possible, preferring to run detection software manually. Also, if you run other anti-spyware scanners you may find them adequate for your needs and not want to also run ZoneAlarm Pro's on a regular basis.

1. Double-click the "ZA" icon on the Windows Taskbar to bring up ZoneAlarm Pro.

2. When the "ZoneAlarm Pro" window appears, click "Anti-spyware".

3. Click the "Main" tab if it is not already selected.

4. Click the "Advanced Options" button.

5. The "Advanced Options" dialog box will appear. Click "Scan Schedule" if it is not already selected.

6. Uncheck "Scan for spyware".

7. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.

By performing this tweak you may want to manually scan for spyware. To do so, click the "Scan Now" button in ZoneAlarm Pro's "Anti-spyware" section.
