ZoneAlarm Standard And Pro

Don't Send Local IP Address to Zone Labs

SUMMARY: Concerned about your IP address getting sent to Zone Labs whenever you request more detail regarding an Internet security alert? Find out how to disable this feature.

This tip was written for ZoneAlarm version 6.5.731.000. Instructions may differ for your version.

When you select "More Info" on a ZoneAlarm or ZoneAlarm Pro Internet alert, part or all of your IP address may be sent to Zone Labs in order to help determine the cause of the alert. If you don't want this information sent:

1. Double-click the "ZA" icon on your taskbar.

2. On the "ZoneAlarm" or "ZoneAlarm Pro" window that follows, click on the "Overview" button on the left.

3. Click the "Preferences" tab.

4. Check "Hide my IP address when applicable".

5. Click "X" to close the ZoneAlarm or ZoneAlarm Pro dialog box.
