SUMMARY: Help keep your machine from becoming a stealth server with ZoneAlarm or ZoneAlarm Pro.
For an extra level of protection, ZoneAlarm / ZoneAlarm Pro can help prevent any software on your system from running as a server. Note that while this prevents IIS, FTP servers, and most software or backdoor programs from running as servers, it may prevent some software you use often on your machine from running normally. Thus, this is not set by default, and you should experiment whether or not this affects your normal Internet use.
To turn this feature on:
1. Double-click the ZoneAlarm "ZA" icon on your taskbar.
2. Select the "Firewall" tab when the "ZoneAlarm" or "ZoneAlarm Pro" window appears
3. Click the "Main" tab.
4. Click the "Advanced" button.
5. An "Advanced Settings" dialog box will appear.
- If you are using ZoneAlarm, check "Block TrustedZone servers" and "Block
InternetZone Servers".
- If you are using ZoneAlarm Pro, check "Block trusted servers" and "Block Internet servers".
6. Click "OK" to close the dialog box.
7. Click the "X" on the top-right of the ZoneAlarm or ZoneAlarm Pro window to close it.
